Welp… that’s a wrap. We didn’t quite make it to 250 episodes, and we didn’t quite make it to five years, but that’s how life goes sometimes. Who would have guessed when we started the show that Kevin would be heading off to New York City and Taylor would be heading to Los Angeles? …I mean, I suppose you probably could have made an educated guess. Nevertheless!

We hope you have enjoyed the show whether you listened to one ep or every ep (god save your poor soul). Please know we telepathically heard every time you yelled at your listening device when we got something wrong. You guys yell a LOT!

To absolutely everyone involved in making this show – producers, guests, designers, photographers, bandmates and listeners – THANK YOU.

And now we present The End.

  • These Things Matter Podcast - Greek Mythology

These Things Matter was delighted when our pals at Buntport Theater asked us to chat with them about Greek Mythology – the through-line of their current theatrical season. We talked to Hannah Duggan, Brian Colonna, Erin Rollman, Erik Edborg, and Samantha Schmitz about myths, mortals and monsters, and perhaps a little Bill and Ted’s Excellent adventure thrown in for good measure.

Be sure to check out their new season at!

  • These Things Matter Podcast - Sister Act

“Don’t worry, we will always be together.” “That’s what Diana Ross said.” Yup. Sister Act. We’re doing a show all about Sister Act. You say, “Taylor and Kevin. This seems ludicrous!” which is a funny way for you to pronounce “religious”, we’ll admit.

Hop on board the Whoopie train as we talk about Catholicism (as usual) and about whether or not people should be allowed to rap about being down with “G.O.D.” with our guest, musician Amanda Gonulsen from Automatic Iris!

These Things Matter Podcast - Les Mis
  • These Things Matter Podcast - Jessica Austgen
  • These Things Matter Podcast - Les Miserables

What a treat it was to have actress and improvisor Jessica Austgen on our fair podcast. We built a barricade, raised some red flags, and sat down to talk about Les Misérables: the book, the musical, the phenomenon. Jessica has been a fan of the Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil musical since she was 10 years-old. Listen in as we chat about why the ultimate musical is so great, and about class warfare, grace, forgiveness… you know, all the light-hearted stuff.

Be sure to catch Jessica performing with her amazing group, Jane’s Addiction, the all lady Jane Austen improv comedy troupe!

It’s Pan the Man! Join us as we chat with Kate Gonda, aka Taylor’s sister, about growing up obsessed with Peter Pan. If you ever wanted to have adventures with your plucky fairy friend, build tree houses with your pals, fight pirates, and chill with mermaids and American Indians, then Peter Pan was you guy.

Kate wanted to be Peter Pan for most of her childhood (and we have the pictures to prove it). As an adult, she’s rocking into the art world. Check out her portfolio at and if you see her around town, be sure to ask her to crow like Pan.

  • These Things Matter Podcast - Queen

Erik Edborg is the third Buntportian to grace our podcast. Erik can be seen on stage at Buntport Theater kicking ass and taking names. Taylor saw him perform a rendition of Queen’s “Flash” – the theme from Flash Gordon – complete with t-shirt and choreography, and she realized we had to have him on the show.

As usual, we could have talked for many hours more about Brian, Roger, John and of course Freddie. Queen rules, duh, and we enjoyed pointing out that fact over and over again. Get on your bikes and ride!

These Things Matter Podcast - The Mar Brothers

  • These Things Matter - The Marx Brothers

Erin Rollman is a true artist. For over 12 years, she and her fellow Buntportians (the proper term for those who work at Denver’s Buntport Theater) have been writing, producing, directing, stage managing, designing and starring in their own original theatrical productions. Their work ethic is incredible. Their artistic vision is boundless. And their comedy is hilarious.

Kevin and Taylor talk to Erin about another group of dynamic, powerhouse artists who just happen to also be 3 (or 4 or 5) of the most talented comedians of all time – The Marx Brothers. Join the Groucho, Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo love-fest!

For your enjoyment, here’s an interview Groucho did with Roger Ebert in 1972.

  • These Things Matter - Nowah Jacobs
  • These Things Matter - Shakespeare

And now truly get pretentious… it’s Shakespeare day! To theatre people like Nowah Jacobs and Taylor, this is all old hat, but Kevin seems to have experienced the beginnings of class warfare within himself during the episode. Can a (somewhat) mild mannered fella from the heart of the country convince two academic know-it-alls that Shakespeare is for crap?! Listen as we discuss our pals Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Hamlet, Othello, Titus… and find out!

Nowah is a DJ on Indiana’s WFHB and he produces one of our favorite non-podcast podacasts, Jason Sims is Calling You. He’s a swell fella, and we had a great time talking to him. Hope you enjoy!
